Due to the extremely high temperatures we have been experiencing, members are receiving bills that are higher than expected. When temperatures increase outside, your air conditioner must run longer to keep your home or business at your desired temperature.
Albemarle EMC recommends setting thermostats to 75 degrees during the warmer months. We also recommend using a thermometer to check the temperature of the air coming from your vents. The temperature should be around 60 degrees or cooler. If the temperature is closer to 70, you should have your air conditioner serviced by a professional technician. Fans should be used instead of your central cooling system, if the fans can produce a tolerable level of comfort.
